Why Colorado Springs drywall cracks where it does

Recurring cracks in the same place are usually telling you something structural rather than cosmetic, and two local conditions drive most of them:

• Expansive soils. Large parts of El Paso and Douglas County sit on clay and claystone that swells when wet and shrinks when dry. That movement shows up indoors as diagonal cracks running off door and window corners, and as doors that stick in one season and swing in another.
